Sawyer Jr. is a tenured Professor of Finance and Director of the Bowie State University MBA program. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, With Honors, from the University of Tennessee; a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and, a Ph.D. in Finance also from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Sawyer has held academic and administrative positions at University of Tennessee, Drexel University and Seton Hall University and at Historically Black Colleges and Universities including Norfolk State University, Johnson C. Smith and now Bowie State University. He has served as a chair of management departments and as a college dean, responsible for six departments representing eight different academic disciplines. He also taught a variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, from freshman seminar to advanced research classes, in several disciplines including finance, management and economics.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sawyer was awarded a Nissan fellowship to the University of Chicago, and has consulted in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean in the area of entrepreneurship.
